Parking expansion to begin at Government Center

Residents visiting the Lauderdale County Government Center will soon see construction underway as work is set to begin on a parking lot expansion.
Approved by the Board of Supervisors in April, the project will add additional parking between the Government Center and Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department to meet a need for more parking spaces when court is in session or jury selection is underway.
The plan also includes new handicap parking located closer to the main entrance of the Government Center and nearer to the handicap ramp.
While expanding public parking, the project will also address parking for county employees and help clarify public and employee only entrances. Installation of ornamental fencing and a new gate will separate employee parking areas from public parking.
H.E. Mosely was the winning bidder for the project and will be carrying out the work. The project was initially scheduled to begin Monday, June 15, but was delayed due to weather.
Residents are encouraged to pay extra attention and keep an eye out for workers while work is underway.

When bad weather strikes, the Lauderdale County Road & Bridge plays a key role in keeping our roadways clear and safe. Crews on Thursday cleared a fallen tree from Charlie Dunn Road, working with both Mississippi Power and the Lauderdale County, MS Sheriff's Office to address downed power lines and control traffic while work was underway.
Thank you to all who work through rain, wind, day, night summer heat and winter cold to keep our roads open, lights on and communities safe!
