More Than One Victim

IT’S OKAY TO FEEL

A lot of people think that to be an indirect victim, there has to be something really bad or something big to happen. In many cases, there is a big, bad thing that does happen, but the majority of things that cause indirect victims to arise are small.

Recently a friend of mine spoke to me about how they feel the need to work on not being affected by the things that happen to those around them. It saddened me to hear the words they were saying about this. Being affected by things that happen to those around them is a natural, normal thing that happens when you care for someone. No one should feel as though they need to work on not being affected by those things. After further conversation, they informed me that they get angry when someone wrongs their friends or when they get in an argument with another person, but this is a normal thing. As human beings we care for one another, even more-so the ones that are closest to us. This friend of mine was being affected by another persons situation and not understanding that it is okay to be affected by these things. To a certain extent, we can’t control how we are affected by things initially. We cannot shame ourselves for feeling the way we do. Shaming ourselves just puts us in an even worse situation. Instead of shaming, we just have to work through it.

More Than One Victim is still in its beginning stages and with that, the goal is to reach as many people as it possibly can, since this topic is so important to everyone involved including myself. Personally, I believe that the best way to reach more people would be to get those who are already aware to share their stories that pertain to this topic. With this being said I will be checking the “share my story” tab for those who are interested in sharing their stories and reaching out to them to write the next and upcoming blogs. For those who follow MTOV on the Facebook platform, I will also begin to post these blogs on our page for easier access.
