California Welcome Center-Merced

Commercial air service in Merced will continue with a new provider.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Essential Air Service to Contour Airlines, with service beginning July 1, 2026.

Passengers will have access to non-stop flights to Los Angeles (LAX) and Las Vegas (LAS) aboard 30-seat jet aircraft, offering convenient travel options for residents and businesses.

Ticket sales begin April 14, 2026.

This transition represents an important step forward for our community, supporting local businesses, expanding travel options, and strengthening regional connectivity.

The City continues work on TSA requirements and final preparations for the opening of the new Merced Regional Airport. Additional updates will be shared as they become available.
