Rip currents continue to be strong this week – Volusia County Beach Safety made 268 rescues over the weekend.

Volusia County Beaches says over 80% of water rescues are because of rip currents. It is very important that you swim near a lifeguard. Rip currents can open anywhere and at any time!

If you find yourself in a rip current, stay calm, wave for help, and swim parallel to shore to move out of the rip current.
