Sometimes a getaway can be as simple as a drive on a highway and having dinner somewhere unique. If that appeals to you, may I suggest a trip down Highway 51 to Covington, TN, for an evening in the country at Turner Angus Pizza Farm. First, yes, pizza farm and some of the best pizza around. Second, it’s a delightful change to rural scenery, complete with rolling hills and livestock, for a unique al fresco dinner experience.

Spring has sprung and then some. School is winding down, and we are on the cusp of vacation season. It is not too hot yet (though depending on what day or what hour you read this it might be unbearably hot or slightly chilly), and we are just poised to enjoy a lovely variety of outdoor activities from the Overton Park Shell to the GPAC Grove to the Collierville Square. There are more options than we have time, and aren’t we lucky? For those days which are not or rainy or both - or you just want a change up - there are ample plays, art shows, and even ballet on Beale (with a surprise vocalist Kortland Whalum - oops did I spoil the surprise?). So go have fun before it really gets hot! -Ken Hall

A little snow and ice couldn’t stop a celebration 50 years in the making-even though it did delay it by a week. The Dixon Gallery & Gardens hosted their 50th Anniversary Celebration on February 1, and a large crowd of supporters gathered to mark the golden anniversary Guests enjoyed a birthday cake, gallery tours, and a special screening of the documentary “50 Years of The Dixon Gallery & Garden that can be seen on WKNO/Channel 10.
Along with the celebration, the annual spring bulb display was the largest in their history with more than 500,000 bulbs planted throughout the grounds. Congratulations to the Dixon for being a Memphis treasure since 1976!

The AutoZone Liberty Bowl has been a Memphis tradition for over 60 years, and the President’s Gala was a premier party held on the eve of the game between University of Cincinnati and the US Naval Academy. Held at the Peabody Hotel, a cocktail reception was followed by an elegant dinner
and a performance by country music star Matt Stell. The head coaches’ wives were honored and University dignitaries were also recognized. Matt was selected to receive the 2025 AutoZone Liberty Bowl Outstanding Achievement Award. Each year, this award is presented by the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in recognition of excellence in the field of music and entertainment. This time-honored recognition dates back to the early years of St. Jude and its founder, entertainer Danny Thomas. The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is much more than a game-it has had a $1.1B economic impact for Memphis and $6M donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. libertybowl.org
