Life has dealt me an amazing hand, in this second half of this thing we call life. God is better than good!

They say it’s something about the energy you give off when you walk into a room. God, thank You for these views… and for making me feel this alive in my own skin. Summer nights in Chicago are everything.

These are 2 of 15 PT movements over the past 4 weeks and I’ve been consistent to nurse my body back to health. It’s so funny, they had to give me harder exercises because the exercises were too easy & not helping the first week.

People see the smiles in this video, but they don’t see the journey behind them.

That day, I knew I had to change my children’s environment after they experienced something deeply traumatic. When your children feel compelled to call 911 because they don’t feel safe, you know it’s time to go.

My children have never celebrated a birthday or their graduations with both parents by their side, even though I was married to their father for 20 years. It was always me, surrounded by family, friends, and the people who chose to show up for them.

People don’t see the missed birthday parties, championship games, doctor visits, award ceremonies, school graduations, and milestones that every child deserves to have both parents celebrate. When both parents have the opportunity to show up, but only one consistently does, children feel that absence.

One of the hardest things I’ve ever done was ask my children if they wanted to stay in Memphis or come with me to Chicago. They chose to come, knowing life would change in ways none of us could fully predict.

It wasn’t an easy road, but they never stopped moving forward.

When we left Memphis, none of us knew it would be the last time they would see or hear from their father or his side of the family.

Today, they’re thriving—not because life has been perfect, but because resilience is stronger than adversity.

When I look at their smiles, I don’t just see happiness.

I see courage.
I see healing.
I see resilience.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give your children is a peaceful environment where they feel safe, supported, and free to grow. ❤️
