It's wishful thinking (or ) to hope that when you toss a plastic bottle into a recycling bin, it will be processed and turned into something new…

The truth is that only 8% of plastic is recycled— leaving millions of pounds per year shipped across the planet and dumped into already overwhelmed landfills and oceans. Keep in mind this versatile, incredible, and toxic material will essentially exist forever. 🤯😵 The US has historically outsourced recycling, so we never built a federal policy of our own. It’s up to individual cities and communities to create resources and change our ways.

Your best bet is to avoid plastic as much as possible. Be creative, 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥 when you can! 💧🖤
