The Media Upper Providence Free Library is CLOSED TODAY, FRIDAY, June 19th for the Juneteenth Holiday. We will reopen Saturday, June 20th for our regular hours: 9:30am-4:30pm.
You can access DELCO Libraries e-Materials here, and look up your patron record here. All items can be returned in our drop box on the corner of Jackson and Front streets and will be backdated due to the holiday closure.
The Media-Upper Providence Free library is FINE FREE for all returned items in good condition.
Juneteenth, a combination of June + nineteenth, is celebrated annually throughout the United States to commemorate the end of slavery. It is the 161st anniversary of when enslaved people of Galveston Texas, finally learned two years after Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that had already declared them FREE. On that day, the 250,000 African Americans still enslaved were told that the Civil War had ended and that they had been legally declared freed.
