Part 1 — Every sparring session has a purpose. Hard sparring, technical sparring, conditioning rounds, all of it is effective and all of it has a place and a time, whether it’s during fight camp or just part of your regular training routine.
With the legend Fast Eddie Chambers we went a 44-minute round for his birthday. Pacing is key for the longevity of a round, but what made this round unique was that even at a controlled pace, it stayed very technical because of our similarities in style and skill sets. Calculated, defensively sound, and not trying to injure your opponent are habits that come naturally when there’s mutual respect and years of experience dealing with each other’s level.
A good fighter can make adjustments and adapt. Match power for power when needed, match technique when the round calls for it, pull punches, stay in control, and always understand the situation you’re in.
Boxers do Birthdays different. Especially at FCF. First of all HBD to the legend . You up to bat! 44min, no breaks, no rest 1 round! Stay tuned! 😤🫡🫵🏽🥊
