Many people are confused as to when you can change insurance when on Medicare. The AEP (10/15-12/7) is the normal to change part D prescription plans and PPO & HMO plans. If you get assistance (LIS) you can change once a quarter. If you have a Medigap Supplement (F, G,N,etc) you change any time but require to be medically underwritten. In California and Oregon they have the "birthday rule" where +/- 30 days of your birthday you can change regardless of you health issues. This is very important if you have a F policy, which is getting very pricey. Changing to a G policy can save you hundreds a year net.
