We knew conditions looked promising, but we never expected a day like this! ❤️

Almost as soon as we stepped into the forest, we started spotting Spring Kings. Everywhere we looked, fresh mushrooms were pushing through the forest floor! We didn’t even cover much ground before our bags started filling up.

What made this find even more remarkable was the quality of the mushrooms. Spring Kings are often quite buggy by the time they reach a good size, but even the largest ones we found showed very little worm damage. They were absolutely packed with water and looked like they had exploded out of the ground after the perfect combination of rain and mild temperatures we’ve had over the past week.

As if that wasn’t enough, we also found a wonderful share of morels along the way. Every turn seemed to reveal another treasure waiting to be discovered.

By the time we had to leave, there were still mushrooms popping up all around us. Walking away was incredibly difficult! We left many behind and could only imagine what the forest will look like in the coming days.

Without a doubt, this was the best Spring King harvest our family has ever recorded. Days like this remind us why we love spending time in the mountains and forests so much. Nature is truly amazing! ❤️🍄🌲

🌱 A Day Spent Fighting Weeds The Old-Fashioned Way 🌱
Today was one of those long farm days spent pulling w**ds. It’s hard work, and there are certainly faster ways to do it, but we continue to choose hand w**ding and mechanical methods over chemical herbicides.
Our farm is home to much more than people. We share this space with birds, pollinators, beneficial insects, frogs, our farm critters, and countless other creatures that are part of a healthy ecosystem. We want the flowers to remain a safe stop for bees and butterflies, the soil to stay alive with beneficial organisms, and the natural balance of the farm to thrive.
For us, the extra hours are worth it. Every w**d pulled by hand is one less reason to introduce chemicals into an environment that supports so much life. While no farm is perfect, we strive to make decisions that respect the land and the wildlife that call it home.
So if you see us out there sweating in the sun, just know it’s part of our commitment to caring for this little piece of nature as responsibly as we can.
The w**ds may be persistent, but so are we. 🌿💪🐝🦋🐓
