Brandon es un joven adulto con discapacidad intelectual y del desarrollo, y en la escuela no solo aprendía—también tenía sus amistades, su vida social y un lugar donde él pertenecía. Pero después de graduarse, todo eso cambió y muchas de esas oportunidades se fueron.

Por eso Capable Kids significa tanto para nuestra familia.

Aquí, Brandon va a bailes, eventos sociales y actividades en la comunidad donde hace amistades, se divierte y sigue conectado. Tiene un lugar donde lo reciben con cariño, lo incluyen y lo valoran tal como es.

Como mamá, no hay palabras para describir lo bonito que es ver a mi hijo reír con sus amigos y emocionarse por cada evento.

Sin programas como Capable Kids, muchos jóvenes adultos con discapacidades se quedarían en casa, sintiéndose solos y aislados después de la escuela. Pero Brandon no—él tiene comunidad.
