Perry Local Schools Begins Construction on New Tennis Courts as Middle School Project Moves Forward
Perry Local Schools prepares for new tennis courts with crews set to clear trees in front of Edison Middle School within the next week. Early site work, also beginning at Hartwick Park, will be the first visible phase of the new middle school construction, marking a major step forward in the district’s facilities plan.
During the later stages of development, district officials determined they must relocate the existing high school tennis courts to accommodate the new building, and will construct new courts in front of Edison Middle School.
Superintendent Nathan Stutz said the progress represents an important milestone for the district and community. “These are the first physical steps our community will see as we move forward with building the new Perry Middle School,” Stutz said. “Relocating the tennis courts allows us to continue making progress on this important investment while also providing quality facilities for our student-athletes.”
The new courts will be completed in time for the girls tennis season this fall, while the boys tennis team will practice and compete at a number of locations during construction this spring with a majority of their time being spent at Reservoir Park in Massillon.
Athletic Director Kevin Yoder said the district remains focused on supporting students throughout the transition. “We’re excited to provide our students with new tennis facilities that will serve our program well into the future,” Yoder said. “We appreciate the flexibility of our student-athletes, families and coaches this spring, and we look forward to welcoming our girls team onto the new courts this fall.”
The tennis courts represent one component of the district’s long-term facilities plan, which includes construction of the new Perry Middle School. The project reflects Perry Local Schools’ continued commitment to providing safe, modern learning environments. The district will share additional updates as construction progresses.
