Rigging out a tall skinny spruce and red pine. Like working on stilts. Cinched the two trees together to tame the wobble and
Span rigged the wood down between the two trunks.

A tale of two girdling roots.
One of the primary concerns at this site was a spreading Red Maple with a dead central lead and sparse foliage.
The homeowners had planted this tree many years ago, as a container grown young tree. That bulging splitting bark is a result of a girdling root wrapped around the trunk that likely started out circling the pot this tree came in. Unfortunately, this has gone unchecked for so long that the root is choking the trunk and restricting the flow of water and nutrients through the tree. It’s far too advanced at this point to correct, so will get removed at some point after it declines enough to become a hazard.
20 feet away, this birch had a visible root circling the base of the trunk. In the early stages like this, a simple excavation and root pruning can prevent this easily overlooked problem from killing a tree later on down the road.
