Aurora Borealis - October 10, 2024 🌌

The skies were a bit cloudy when we arrived at the river around 8 p.m., but we kept shooting and at around 11:30 p.m. it started to clear up a bit more and the colors really started to dance for us. It was awesome watching them shoot across the sky. 🔦

Pinhole to the Sun - 183 Days of Continuous Exposure ☀️

This is a 6-month long exposure photo taken using a pinhole camera. What you see here are the trails of the sun moving across the sky above the St. Croix river each day from December 26, 2023, to June 26, 2024. This image was captured onto a 3x3” sheet of light-sensitive photographic paper directly in the pinhole camera, which left individual sharp lines as the sun moved across the sky. After I retrieved my pinhole camera, I removed the photo paper, scanned it, inverted the image, and adjusted the contrast slightly. I intentionally exposed this photo from the winter solstice to the summer solstice to capture the sun at both its lowest path and highest path in the sky. 🌞
