My observation and experience from yesterday's Verizon outage.

Pixel phone will make Wi-Fi calls on Verizon (I have Google Fi a T-Mobile NVMO and it just works without user action) if you put the phone in Airplane mode and you have an internet connection (Wi-Fi), iPhone will not make Wi-Fi calls. in Airplane mode with a Wi-Fi connection.

If you had a different result, please comment.

It would be nice if they gave all customers a choice.
