👑 .. fk yeah it’s true. in the beginning there was make-up .. 🤩 which was fun at the time, but not really that surprising considering we all met performing on a Broadway stage in make-up (and mike was even wearing a dress). We 3 were all cast members of the award winning Broadway show ‘Hedwig & the Angry Inch’. We had so much fun pretending to be in a fake band (the Angry Inch) that when the show closed we decided to start our own band. We may be the only rock band around that can claim Broadway roots. It’s not really that cool for rock and roll to be associated with Broadway, but we don’t give a s**t.. Hedwig is a masterpiece of a rock/glam/punk musical written by good friends of ours, Hedwig was way more devil horns🤘🏽than jazz hands 👐 Sometimes as performers(especially if u tend to be shy) it can be an effective way to feel comfortable onstage.. to paint your face, wear something u wouldn’t normally wear, move in ways u might not do otherwise.. it can help to invent a character that goes on stage instead of yourself. Beyoncé did it with ‘Sacha Fierce’ and there is a long lineage of fkn rad musicians/performers who wore make up on stage…Dylan, Bowie, Ozzy.. just to name a few. And then suddenly one night on tour we just stopped wearing make up .. maybe we finally felt comfortable in our own skin.. maybe this band we started had sufficiently gotten under our skin and we felt it was ok to just be us. 📷 among others
