Some things you don’t choose… and some things you just learn to carry.
I saw a video posted by Bethenny Frankel, and it stopped me. She said she’s “surviving, not thriving”… and that really resonated.
Because the truth is, more people are living in that space than we realize.
We see the photos, the smiles, the outfits, the moments that look polished and put together… but we don’t always see what’s underneath.
A year or so ago, my life changed in ways I never expected.
First, I lost my husband after more than 20 years together… and then being diagnosed with breast cancer and having to go through chemotherapy.
The hair, the treatments, the uncertainty — none of that was a choice. And neither was the strength people like to talk about.
People will say, “You’re so strong.”
But the truth is… you don’t get a choice. You just keep going.
So when you see my short hair, it’s not a trend. It’s not a style decision. It’s a reminder of a season not too long ago I had to walk through — one day at a time.
And like Bethenny said… you can be showing up, smiling, even succeeding in parts of your life… and still feel like your soul is not fully at rest.
That doesn’t make you weak.
It makes you human.
If you’re in a season where you’re just getting through the day… please know you’re not alone. You don’t have to have it all together. You don’t have to pretend.
Sometimes, surviving is enough. And sometimes, that’s where healing begins.
With love 🤍
