One Mutual Friend

Andy Martinez () is a true New Yorker and hip hop fashion designer. The Washington Heights native has been deconstructing sneakers since 2006, and is known for his iconic mash-up of Air Force ones and cowboy boots.

Andy spends his days teaching art, mastering his craft of shoe sculptures, and organically finding inspiration all around the city. He recently did a collaboration with Nike House of Innovation where people could workshop with Andy and learn from the mastermind behind Andy’s Shoe Factory. Today, Andy shares the story behind 08:31am and what it’s like wearing his own designs.
