I'm starting a couple of my lessons today (middle school math) with this "who am I riddle?"

This question is great
-for problem solving
-to assess if a student knows what "sum" means
-to assess if a student knows what a "perfect square" is
-for students to see if they can devise a plan of action to figure this out

Give it a try in your next tutoring session or math class :)

Like many things on life we learn and grow from our mistakes! Don't be afraid to make them, it's all part of the process.

This one is short and sweet! Answer it yourself, or pass it along to a student working on these concepts :)

I know and understand that learning differences exist. I know that for some people math may come "easier for them." What I also know, is that when we continue to say we are bad at something we get stuck in that mindset, and we don't give ourselves the opportunity for growth.

But maybe...
-we need to be taught something in another way
-we need to ask a few more questions
-we need more time to understand
-there is a small part of the concept that's holding us back
-we have anxiety about being wrong
-we think we are the only one who doesn't understand
-we need somebody to believe in us

What else would you add?
