Department of Housing and Urban Development. Needs funds for lead abatement? The City of Manchester provides resources and funding to property owners to repair rental units, up to $9,900/unit plus up to $3,000/unit to address qualifying housing code violations. Program applications are available online. Grant funds are awarded as a forgivable loan and do not have to be repaid if owners meet program criteria.

According to a recent study, more than half of children under 6 in the U.S. had detectable levels of lead in their blood. There is no level of lead exposure that is known to be safe, according to the World Health Organization.
