Mud season has its way with Vermont.

The roads soften, the pace slows, and everything gets just a little quieter. It’s part of the rhythm here—and we’ve learned to follow it.

So we’re taking a pause.

The gallery will be closed for a few weeks while we rest, reset, and spend some time gathering new pieces for the season ahead. A little breathing room now means a more thoughtful, collected SQUIRREL when we return.

We’ll reopen on May 16 with fresh work, new finds, and a store that feels ready for spring.

Until then—thank you, as always, for being part of this.

Step Into the Woods 🌲

Meet Holly Ann Friesen. Holly’s paintings invite you to look up — through canopies of color, shifting light, and layered skies that feel both grounded and dreamlike. Her work lives somewhere between landscape and abstraction, capturing those hushed, fleeting moments when light filters through branches and the world feels still.

This February at SQUIRREL, we’re stepping Into the Woods — a month inspired by branches reaching skyward, bark marked by time, and the quiet strength found in forests and trees. It feels only fitting to have Holly’s work anchoring the theme.

Swipe through to explore seven pieces from her collection — or stop in to see them in person, where their scale, texture, and atmosphere truly come to life.
