Apparently it is World Chocolate Day, which feels like information I should have been given earlier and with more urgency.

So naturally, we need to discuss vacation chocolate.

This is your reminder that snack priorities are real priorities, and I support them.

Are you choosing:

🍫 a Mickey bar in Magic Kingdom
☕ frrrozen hot chocolate at Serendipity 3
🍰 chocolate cake after dinner at Disney
🍨 a ridiculous sundae on a cruise ship
🥐 pain au chocolat in Paris
🍫 Belgian truffles you absolutely “just stopped in to look at”
☕ rich hot chocolate in Europe that is basically dessert in a cup
or
🍪 a warm cookie eaten while pretending calories do not cross state lines?

I am not saying chocolate should be part of the vacation plan.

I am saying I have never regretted planning around a good snack.

Planning a trip to Europe does not have to mean there is only one “right” way to travel.

Some travelers love a fully guided or escorted tour. The itinerary is structured, the major logistics are handled, and the experience often includes hotels, transportation, touring, and a guide traveling with the group.

Other travelers prefer an independent, customized itinerary. That does not mean doing everything alone or figuring it all out from scratch. An independent trip can still include private transfers, train tickets, museum tours, food tours, local guides, day trips, and carefully planned logistics.

The difference is the overall structure of the trip.

Do you want the framework largely built for you, with a set itinerary and group experience?

Do you want a custom itinerary designed around your dates, pace, hotels, interests, and free time?

Or would a mix make the most sense, such as a guided tour or river cruise with independent pre- or post-trip nights added on?

Europe is not one-size-fits-all.

The best trip is the one that matches how you want to travel, how much structure you want, and how much flexibility you need.
