People often ask how Northern Virginia Food Rescue works. The answer is simple: collaboration.
Our model allows us to orchestrate large-scale food rescues from grocery stores, farmers markets, distributors, manufacturers, and other food donors, ensuring that perfectly good surplus food reaches the local food pantries, nonprofits, community centers, and senior communities we love serving.
We don't operate in a vacuum. This work takes everyone—food donors willing to give, volunteers willing to serve, nonprofit partners ready to distribute, and community members helping connect resources to those who need them most.
If you or someone you know is looking for food assistance, we encourage you to visit the Capital Area Food Bank's interactive Food Assistance Map and simply enter your ZIP code to find resources closest to you. Many of the organizations listed receive food through Northern Virginia Food Rescue, helping extend the impact of every pound we rescue.
Food insecurity is a community challenge, and it takes a community solution. Thank you to every donor, volunteer, partner agency, and supporter who helps make this work possible. Together, we're keeping good food out of landfills and putting it where it belongs—on tables throughout our community.
