Get to Know Chatham! Chatham is a small, but historic town in . Located in London Grove Township, the town is named for William Pitt, First Earl of Chatham, who lived from 1708–1778. In 1741, William McKean opened a tavern 🍻known as Half-Way House. In 1766, word of Pitt's speech in the British parliament in opposition to the Stamp Act reached the tavern. McKean put a large portrait of the Earl out front, thus, the tavern name, and later town name, was changed to Chatham. Did you learn something new today? 💡
