Those of you who know me well know about my background in public health and that I am an avid athlete, yogi, climber, camper, hiker, gardener and cyclist. You name an athletic and/or outdoor activity, and I'm willing to try it.
This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Peninsula State Park ribbon cutting for their new and improved mountain bike trails, many of which are accessible to beginners. (Bikes and e-bikes are avalable for rental as well.) This could not have happened without Knowles-Nelson funding, which the majority party chose not to renew after decades of excellent results and a subsequent increase in tourism dollars.
Those monies will not be renewed after June 2026.
Quality of life needs state dollars. It needs bipartisan conversations. This is not theoretical. The data support investing in connectivity and recreation in our communities.

We got the last of our constituent letters to the post office before the Rule of 49 sets in. Thank you for reaching out to my office with your input. I'm a better representative when you reach out with your lived experiences.

This bears repeating. Education funding needs a real fix, and should not be paired with another massive giveaway to those who need it least.
Eau Claire Residents Talk Education at Rep. Phelps Town Hall State Representative Christian Phelps hosted a town hall for Eau Claire area residents at Chippewa Valley Technical College over the weekend.

Today is the 178th anniversary of when Wisconsin officially became a state. On May 29, 1848, Wisconsin was the 30th state to join the United States and the last state completely east of the Mississippi River. A lot has changed in 178 years, but we continue to move forward.

Memorial Day parade in Whitewater this morning down to the armory for a ceremony, sponsored by American Legion Post 173.
It was emotional on many levels. The majority of my family - my dad most recently - is buried in Arlington. And my senior participated in her last year playing percussion in the high school band. My 8th grader is moving up to high school and will be wearing a band uniform and playing in subsequent Memorial Day and 4th of July parade days.
Congrats to the Badger State award recipients, Langdon Coburn, Colton Liberto, Frank Mbifi, Maddilyn Morton and Emy Islas. May you learn all the things about civic engagement and service to community.
Whitewater area veterans we lost since last Memorial Day: Bruce Bucholtz, Kenneth D. Eggleston, Walter F. Eichman, Louis W. Golembiewski, Ronald Gosh, Clarence E. (Bud) Hansen Jr., Michael J. Higgins, Richard D. Kilpin, John D. Koebler, Leonard J. Larsen, Kelly S. O'Donnell, and Stephen Thorngate.
Pretty cool ... and worth sharing. I didn't know this history of Edgerton Hospital.
