The Madison Farm
Things are growing… dying… getting crowded out by w**ds (carrots, always the carrots)… being harvested… need to be harvested…
It’s summertime!

Farm Crew 2026
What a start to the summer. ☀️ This crew is something special — hardworking, motivated, and full of good energy. With half the team being new to the farm, they’ve come together better than we could have asked for.
The worst of the summer heat is still ahead, but they’ve already pushed through some tough days — boots full of water, intense heat, and everything in between. Through it all, laughter, jokes, and good chatter filled the air.
That’s exactly how it should be. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer brings. 🌻

🍓Strawberry season is before us! 🍓
We’ll have strawberries at market on Tuesdays and then we’ll be selling out of the farm with pop-up online sales. These are first come first serve when you order online for farm pick up.
Pictured are my high school gardening class students. They helped plant, tend, and w**d these strawberry plant babies. Now they get to enjoy the literal fruits of their labor.

Amending the soil
1. Measure the plot… which isn’t an easy square, but a strange shape requiring us to break it up into 3 more manageable shapes.
2. Multiplication… by hand! On paper!!!! The horror! 🤣🙌
3. adding up the three different areas and then figuring out how to divide, then multiply that into 7 buckets to be dispersed throughout that plot.
4. Converting ounces into fractions of pounds.
5. Weighing out the amendments and then feeding the soil.
Yesterday morning was an experiment in teaching a lesson I’ve, frankly, avoided because it doesn’t typically allow for all the students to be involved. Typically it’s just one at a time weighing out the amendments (boring! 🥱). Yesterday we started figuring this out and how we can best FEED the soil and WHY we want to feed the soil.

Strawberry 🍓 season is just around the corner, y’all! Keep your eyes opened to see when we’ll have them for you at market on Tuesdays or at the farm for pop-up farm stands.
You know the drill (I know, it’s been a minute), once it’s posted on IG/FB, it’s first come first serve on our website.

Gardening Class field trip to last Thursday. An absolutely beautiful day with some amazing people checking out all the hard work that Paul & Elizabeth do. They are just wonderful humans and incredibly knowledgeable. They have been hosting field trips for my gardening class pretty much since we started our gardening class program. We never stop learning.
