Happy National Dairy Month! With over 1,200 licensed cheesemakers producing over 600 types of cheese, Wisconsin produces nearly twice as many as any other state. This month, we thank our cheesemakers and all of the dairy farmers and producers for their hard work in making us America’s Dairyland.

Today we pause to honor those who gave everything in service to our country.

Memorial Day is not just a long weekend. It is a solemn reminder of the sacrifice made by so many Wisconsin veterans and their families, those who left home, who fought with courage, and who never came back. We owe them more than we can ever repay.

Wisconsin has a proud and deep tradition of military service. From the Civil War to the present day, the men and women of this state have answered the call with honor and distinction. Their sacrifice is woven into the fabric of who we are as a community and as a state.

Today I'm thinking of every Gold Star family in Oak Creek, Milwaukee, Greenfield and across Wisconsin who carries that loss every single day. May we never forget what was given so that we could live free.
