The Green Seminary Initiative

s leaders to meet the looming ecological crisis. Seminaries and schools of divinity accepted that challenge to infuse theological education with an earth epic and to create physical and spiritual communities to support that ethic. The Green Seminary Initiative fosters efforts by theological schools and seminaries to incorporate care for creation into the identity, mission, academic program, and ethos of their institutions. The premise of this initiative is based on two convictions:
1. that the religious community has a unique and significant calling to turn back human-caused environmental destruction and to participate in bringing all of creation into health and wholeness.
2. that theological schools should provide clergy and religious leaders with the tools necessary for them to lead their congregations, communities and organizations in meeting their unique call to protect and restore creation.
