The last time I saw him he came into my house and gave my kids some of his pins. He hugged my dog and connected with my husband. He didn’t know them, but he had a way of connecting with others and making them feel like he had known them for a long time. He had the greatest smile. But what what I loved most about Anwar were his thoughtful responses. He took time to answer, to relate, to listen. He was kind. And in a world full of pretentiousness, he was humble and I think that because of all of this and more it feels unfair…too soon. The world needed Anwar longer, we needed his warmth longer.
