We see campus change readiness as having the trust levels, skills, and capacities necessary to engage change initiatives fully, thus improving their likelihood of success. Change readiness is always in flux and, like health, will always need attending to. Daily choices in how we work affect our readiness and can either improve it or weaken it.

One of the most highly touted high-impact resources for students, faculty, and staff in the academy is mentorship. The research is clear: mentoring matters. According to the literature, mentored faculty and staff report higher levels of work satisfaction, are more productive in scholarly and creative endeavors, and are more likely to take on leadership roles on their campuses (Lunsford et al., 2018).

Those of us in academic leadership need to create programs that foster multicultural discussions and interest. We need to serve as leaders in championing diverse thought and authenticity. By doing so, we better support and create opportunities for students from all backgrounds.
