New collection acquired! An incredible hardcover, omnibus, trade paperbacks, art books, and comic collection from artist and friend ! 🎨📚🧀

I’m sure you’ve seen Darryl’s art somewhere online over the years. We have many of his prints in the house. And I’m lucky enough to be able to call him a friend. When he said he needed to clear some space and wondered if I was interested I said absolutely!

So and I drove two cars down to Illinois and helped clear out some space for him 🙏 and brought back some incredible books! This is only a small sampling.

This wasn’t just someone casually collecting comics, this was part of the library of an artist who genuinely loved the medium and the creators behind it.

We’re talking boxes and boxes of trade paperbacks, hardcovers, omnibuses, art books, Marvel Masterworks, and shelves full of material centered around some of the greatest comic creators of all time: Steve Ditko, John Romita, John Byrne, Jack Kirby, and so many more.

One of my favorite parts of this collection is getting a glimpse into what inspired someone creatively. You can really feel Daryl’s appreciation for comic art, storytelling, and the history of the medium throughout this entire collection.

There’s a TON to go through here! Processing has just begun and we will be having a special two night Live Sale here on Instagram next week Wednesday May 13th & Thursday May 14th!

And will be posting a couple claim sale items (like a complete run if John Byrne’s She Hulk), and some sealed complete card sets, so be on the lookout! 👀

FaceTiming with FRANK MILLER (yes THE Frank Miller)!!!!Talking about the golden age collection, comic history, and everything in between 🤯🤯😭😭

On a whim I cut together footage of the Golden Age collection and it went viral and I was flooded with messages. One being from Silenn the CEO of Frank Miller Ink saying she showed him the video and he would like to FaceTime and see if I have any Crime comics from the collection he can pick up cause he loves those….

We set up a time for them to call. And when we did…there he was!! The Icon himself, sometime I’ve paid to wait in line to meet, one of the most prolific creators in the medium 😭 WHAT?!?!

They both asked me about the collection, the story behind it all, how I got started doing this, how I got started with comics, we talked EC Comics and various artists, comic history, and so much over the hour long call. I showed him some Crime and Romance comics from the collection and he made a pile of ones he wanted :) So I guess I could call Frank Miller…a client??? 😅😅😅

I made sure to tell Mr Miller how much I loved his work, met him a few years ago in Chicago, and will be seeing him in August at Fan Expo Chicago. I also took a minute to tell them both how much this all meant to me. For 20 years I’ve made videos and gave up again and again, but this time I’m committed to never stopping. Silenn complimented my work and told me to keep going, as did Frank Miller. He said “It’s Never Over, Don’t Give Up and Keep Going” 😭😭😭

How incredible that a video lead me to that. There is not enough words to express my deepest and sincerest gratitude that that happened. Absolutely insane and beautiful 🙏 His goodies from the collection are boxed up and made sure to throw in a Cheddar Doodle!

All from saying “hmmm I should probably cut that footage into a video” and editing it and publishing. What a day! Wow 🤯

(and Barry) helping me process the golden age collection! So many bags and boards needed. Also needing gloves and an air purifier to help since these have been buried in a shed for 80 years.
