Lastly, I have my more abstract art and some miscellaneous pieces. The first drawing is the metal blade that comes on a box of aluminum foil. It was fun to hear some guesses on what this was. One person was actually able to get it immediately! The second drawing is of an old chainsaw blade. For the pushpin, I thought it was fun to have the reflections in it (it was clear) and such a bold shadow behind it. Next, I have an old, rusty shovel that has some dry concrete on it, rose petals, and a Covid test. Lastly, I have a mixed media piece compiled of failed and abandoned projects throughout the making of this show!

The next section I would like to share from my show at is the hardware section! This is by far my favorite sub series in the whole exhibit.
I had so much fun collecting and drawing these items. Most of the items were recovered while doing renovation projects around my house or discarded on the job site volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. I found the nut and the plastic washer at the park while walking my dog.
The brass screws in “All That Glitters…” sparked the idea for the entire series, but the little screw called “Leader of the Pack” was the first drawing I actually completed. I liked it so much that I intended to do a whole series before I even knew I was going to get a show.

I am posting pictures from my “Used” exhibit at The 567 Center for Renewal section by section. The show is still up until the 25th in downtown Macon. Pieces are available for sale through the gallery.
The show starts with an art/artist section. First up is my self portrait, “From the Drawing’s Perspective.” The drawing focuses on my hand, which is covered in pastel and charcoal and holding one of my favorite soft pastel colors. It was fun to draw my face in the background out of focus. This drawing has sold!
My Artist Statement has a brief bio and description about the show.
Next, I have a tiny yellow pencil called “Cracked.” It is hard to tell in the photo, but if you look closely at the drawing, you can see the wood of the pencil is split.
Lastly, I have one of my favorites, “Hourglass,” an 18x18” drawing which depicts a white charcoal pencil. The pencil has been used so much and sharpened down to a tiny little stub with shavings scattered around it. The is how all my pencils end up… until they are too tiny to hold!
