The spotlight on a singer-songwriter (or as he says, a songwriter-singer) playing on one of our iconic stages Robins Financial Capitol Theatre hits like a prism, a moment of Macon illumination when our cover revealed itself. Hailing from just down a country road in Ellaville, GA, Brent Cobb curated South of Atlanta Fest here for a second year, just before taking off on tour to arenas nationwide. He chooses Macon as the site where he not only performs, but remains among the people all weekend long, swapping stories and songs over boiled peanuts with his fans.

In our first-ever cover featuring live music with a real, live audience, this one truly feels alive. This issue tells of our music loving city’s range, the reasons we create our sound, and who makes it happen. Read about helpers in our midst who make it possible, from founders and teachers to family and churches.

If we want to attract the greatest talent and be seen as a music city, an alignment requires us to stop being so last minute. Buy the tickets, early and often. As writer Brittny Johnson shared, attending a Babyface concert with her mom at Atrium Health Amphitheater led to a realization that purchasing tickets is actually an investment in our beloved Macon.

What began as a response to violence has grown into something deeper: mentorship, healing, leadership, and support for girls across Macon.

Since its launch, MVP has distributed more than $1.6 million to local nonprofit organizations working to uplift youth and provide safe spaces for growth.

Through programs like Girls Dig Deeper and PACE Center for Girls, young women are building confidence, relationships, and futures beyond their circumstances.
