Building Foundations Learning Academy

As part of our pond theme, our preschoolers brought their learning to life by creating their very own pond scenes.

Using simple materials, children explored how elements of a pond come together — from the water to the surrounding plant life — all while strengthening fine motor skills, focus, and creativity.

Activities like this encourage children to follow directions, make thoughtful choices, and take pride in their work as they build something of their own.

At BFLA, learning is hands-on, meaningful, and connected — helping children understand the world around them in a way that sticks.

Today’s block challenge: Boys vs. Girls — Build Your Own City!

And let’s just say… our girls showed up ready to collaborate. 🏙️💪

They planned, communicated, adjusted their designs, and worked together beautifully to bring their vision to life.

Block play may look simple, but it builds powerful skills:

• Spatial awareness & math foundations
• Critical thinking & planning
• Collaboration & communication
• Persistence and resilience

When children build, they are learning how structures balance, how ideas come together, and how teamwork makes projects stronger. These are the very foundations of STEM learning.
