What do all of these rooms have in common? Grasscloth.

At first glance, it can look like a flat wall color. But look closer. Notice the variation in color, the woven texture, the way it catches light differently across the wall. It's understated, but it goes a long way.

Traditional grasscloth is made from natural woven fibers and it's beautiful, but it can also be delicate. Faux grasscloth made of vinyl gives you that same depth and texture with a whole lot more durability, which is a great option for high traffic spaces and young families.

Yesterday we shared a coffee table layered with books, boxes, and conversation starters. Today it's a Magna-Tile construction site. And that's exactly the point.

Every family uses their home differently, and good design makes room for that. Sometimes the coffee table is for styling. Sometimes it's for towers, race tracks, puzzles, art projects, and whatever today's imagination dreams up.

Designing for a family doesn't mean choosing between beautiful and functional. It means understanding what that family needs in this season of life...and making space for it (literally and figuratively).

Someday this coffee table may hold stacks of design books. Today, it holds castles.
