Perfect Your Hinge! — Straight Up Strong 09/01/2021

Many folks think the deadlift is dangerous and not for them- but hinging is something our bodies were made to do! If you are picking items, kids, fur babies up off the floor, learning to hinge in a safe and strong way is going to help prevent injury and tweaks and aches!

In Straight Up Strong, Tina Tang and I focus our programming on the “big 6” movements and their variations because they directly align with our everyday life activities! We want to support our members with moving through life strong, empowered and as independent as possible as they age!

Here are three moves to help you learn and master this foundational strength movement, the hinge!

Strength training is for everybody and is especially important for folks hitting the best time of their life - midlife! 😉

Diet culture will have us believing that fitness is for weight loss and as we settle into midlife, we can easily fall into the “why should I ‘bother’ to lose weight” or “what’s the point now?”

First, we are ALWAYS worth our time and energy to help ourselves feel empowered and confident and strong (which is what weight loss ads will say weight loss is all about)

and it can be hard for us recognize that there is so much more to training and movement - and we deserve that, especially as we age.

And that the confidence and empowerment weight loss is selling us, actually comes from within us and from us taking our power.

Strength training does that.

In addition to
- Creating strong muscles, bones, and connective tissue
- Helping to prevent injuries from your other daily activities
- Allowing you to remain strong and independent as you age
- Improving mobility and stability
Strength training connects us to ourselves and our power, enabling us to truly experience just what we are capable of.

And that, is why it is never too late to start.
That’s why strength training is for you.

Monthly Membership Includes:

* Monthly strength program that you can do individually or follow in our training sessions. This changes each month and utilizes the principle of progressive overload in conjunction with aviations of the “big 6” movements to keep you progressing with your strength goals.
* Program digitally delivered via an app so you have everything you need right in your back pocket: the program with video exercise tutorials and ability to track your workout data, and text / video/ picture messaging capabilities to stay on contact with your coaches!
* Coaches provide weekly check ins and feedback on exercises and program, including video analysis and form checks.
* Access to live small group training sessions! Members are able to complete the scheduled training session from the program with coaching and cuing from a highly qualified coach and build community by working along side other members! This additional layer of coaching has multiple benefits, enhancing the already super high touch coaching via the app!
* Access to the recordings from the live training sessions to follow along with! This option allows you to feel like you’re live in the session but have the flexibility to training on your own schedule!
* Our private Facebook group where we (Tina & Michelle) are in contact with the group daily.
* Quarterly skill workshop or group event.
* Two experienced fitness trainers as your guide
