There’s even more beauty in an unhindered life than you can imagine. It is as close as we’ll get to knowing the joy of heavenly life, while still existing in the bounty of brokenness and disappointments of this world. These words are true: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33b, NIV)

Life is difficult. Period. If we try to ignore pain in an effort to make life easy, we will always fail and be disappointed and defeated. The goal is to purposefully live well and lead our hearts well in a world that is difficult and temporary, so that we finish our race well. The good news is that God has given us unlimited access to what our hearts need for this to be said of our lives. That is something to celebrate!

Our hearts need us to consistently feed them truth and lead them with repetition. Most of us will need healthier rhythms, new disciplines, and a good friend, counselor, or coach to hold us to the commitments we’re making to create a new normal. We cannot let our memories grow faint of the things God can do in our lives when we listen to His voice.

Write down what God is doing in your heart and let your rehearsal of it be a part of the protective plan that guards your heart. Remember and rehearse. Adjust and propel. Protect the beauty of what God is doing in you.
