Who Can File Head of Household?

Filing Head of Household (HOH) can give you a bigger refund and lower tax rate — but you have to qualify! ✅

To file HOH, you must:
👩🏽‍💼 Be unmarried (or considered unmarried) on the last day of the year
🏡 Have paid more than half the cost of keeping up your home
👶🏾 Have a qualifying dependent who lived with you more than half the year (like your child, stepchild, or another qualified relative)

💡 Example: If you’re single and your child lives with you most of the year, and you pay the majority of your household bills, you likely qualify!

⚠️ Remember: Just claiming a child doesn’t automatically make you HOH — the IRS looks at your living and financial situation closely.
