Chrome and Character at Mackenzie Park

There is a specific kind of gravity that old trucks have. They don't just occupy space; they hold onto history.

While wandering through a recent car show at Mackenzie Park here in Lubbock, I found myself stopped in my tracks by this mid-century Ford. In a sea of vibrant paint jobs, this build spoke a different language—one of raw power and hard work.

As a photographer, I’m often drawn to the "faces" of these machines. By choosing a black-and-white finish, I wanted to highlight the contrast between the rugged wooden stakes and that gleaming polished chrome.

The Workhorses that Built West Texas 🚜🌾

I spent some time at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture (FiberMax Center for Discovery) recently, getting up close with these amazing pieces of history. From the massive steel wheels of the antique Case to the classic lines of the early Ford tractors, these machines are a testament to the hard work of our local farm families.

It’s one thing to hear stories about the early days of farming on the South Plains, but seeing these workhorses in person really puts it into perspective. We owe so much of our local heritage to the grit and innovation represented here.
