Last year, we started helping the Mahenzo Mission School in Kenya with funds for the construction of a classroom building for their pre-primary program. The Kabunda Pre-Primary building effort started and the local church committed funds and labor to that project. The Monterey Foundation began supporting this effort, knowing that it was going to take a lot of money and a lot or work to accomplish. We helped fund Phase 1 and Phase 2 portions of the work in 2025. In 2026, we helped with Phase 3 and Phase 4 costs.
That building is progressing nicely. Attached are some photos as of June 2026. The first floor classrooms and teacher spaces are basically complete and are being used to hold classes now. The second floor is still under construction, with walls and roof work ongoing. Almost all of the labor has been provided by the local church members. While some had to be done by licensed professionals, anything and everything they could do, the members have done.
Work is still going on, but they are making great progress. As you support the Monterey Foundation with your donations and your prayers, you are participating and are responsible for these kinds of projects getting done. Kingdom work is happening because of Your commitment and involvement!
THANK YOU for being a part of the 'team' that is building this school building in Kenya!!

The work in Kenya on the Kabunda Preschool continues. They have reached Phase 4 of their construction of a two story structure with 6 classrooms plus a computer lab plus a teacher's workroom & storage. They recently formally dedicated the building and have started using ground floor classrooms while they finish the second floor walls and roof.
Using your donations and gifts, Monterey Foundation has provided funds for Phases 1 thru 3 of this project, and we recently awarded more funding for the Phase 4 work which should finish this building.
The project has received significant funding from local sources as well the Foundation, plus the local church members have done most of the heavy labor, from digging footings and foundations, to pouring concrete, to building walls, and to doing finishing work.
This new school building is quite an achievement and it will serve God's Kingdom for many years, touching many lives, and acting as a lasting legacy of your faithfulness & generosity!
