✏️ UTEP - The University of Texas at El Paso’s Miner Teacher Residency, an initiative that began in 2019 with support from CREEED, El Paso Community Foundation and US PREP with 19 teachers at two campuses, is now making significant progress in building a robust educator workforce in El Paso and across the state. Since 2018, US PREP has partnered with Education Policy Initiative at Carolina (EPIC) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to implement a third-party evaluation of US PREP’s technical assistance. In their most recent research brief, EPIC details their evaluation and findings from data analysis of surveys of university-based teacher educators (deans, associate deans, department chairs, faculty, and field supervisors) in Cohorts I, II, & III of the US PREP Coalition. The surveys were administered on three occasions from Spring 2020 - 2022 and revealed the positive impact of the transformed model on many components of teacher preparation. Erika Mein (UTEP - The University of Texas at El Paso), Clif Tanabe (UTEP), and Amber Thompson (University of Houston) share with the Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation Teacher Preparation Transformation Centers across the nation how they’ve scaled and sustained high-quality teacher preparation at their own programs.

The definition for residency will play a crucial role in elevating the quality of teacher preparation in Delaware.
