George Washington wasn’t thinking about turkeys when he proclaimed the America’s first official Thanksgiving observance in 1789. He had in mind setting aside a day to slow down, to give thanks, and to remember our blessings. It might serve us well to do those things this year.
Most of our lives we focus on what we do. Thanksgiving is time to focus on family and friends. Instead of longing for more, we could be thankful for what we have and by whose grace we have it.

Christmas is a time to celebrate merrily with family and friends. It is also a time to be quietly joyful as we reflect on the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior.
