I was looking at this weekend's lineup and realized something.

The weekend gets progressively stranger.
⠀
Friday starts with moonlight and pixie dust.
⠀
Saturday afternoon has us gluing broken pottery, old trinkets, and random bits of "junk" onto a garden pot.
⠀
And Saturday night ends with a UFO hovering over Albuquerque.
⠀
Somehow, all of this makes perfect sense to me. 😆

This month's Found Objects Mosaic class starts with a blank garden pot and a collection of broken pottery, colorful trinkets, and other found treasures.

On paper, it sounds a little odd.

In reality, it's one of my favorite classes because no two projects ever look alike.
⠀
Some people choose pieces because they love the colors. Others bring broken dishes, old jewelry, or little objects that remind them of a person, place, or memory.

The government keeps releasing UFO documents. I'm not saying anything. I'm just saying Albuquerque seems like exactly the kind of place aliens would pick.

​We'll paint a colorful UFO beaming a rainbow light under a star-filled sky. It's quirky and bright. And it WILL start conversations when people see it at your place.

I'll be getting the studio ready for Summer Camp starting Monday. A whole room full of young artists needs some serious prep work.

Highland cows, both males AND females, grow horns.

So the adorable fluffy cow we're painting Friday? She's cute. She's sweet. She's also packing heat.

(Honestly seems fair. With hair that gorgeous you need some kind of protection.)

We're painting a sweet Highland cow peeking over a fence, surrounded by soft spring flowers. She's fluffy, friendly, and has the kind of hair most of us can only dream about.

This one is light, pretty, and full of spring color. We'll paint a graceful butterfly near soft pink flowers, with fresh greens and a calm pastel background that makes the whole piece feel peaceful and cheerful.

Which is fun for me, slightly inconvenient if you were hoping to paint this weekend, and also a good reminder that yes, I do private paint parties too. 🙂

This whole month has been my little tribute to Van Gogh... a reminder that he didn't start painting seriously until later in life, and still created some of the most recognizable art in the world.
