Rarely does the Board allow the Foundation to move an artwork from permanent display. Such is the case with Willem de Kooning’s Dark Pond, 1948. With the loan of it to the Princeton University Art Museum, we have the rare opportunity to temporarily bring in new art into the Carolwood House. In its absence, we have used the opportunity to share Ed Moses’ Bot, 2016, which will be on view until the end of July. Please schedule a tour to see it on our website.

The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation is proud to loan Dark Pond, 1948 to Willem de Kooning’s exhibition The Breakthrough Years, 1945-50 at the Princeton University Art Museum. The exhibition traces the development of de Kooning’s approach to painting in the period when he cemented his position as a leader of the American avant-garde. The exhibition will center around Princeton University Art Museum’s painting Black Friday and will bring together paintings from more than a dozen museums and private collections. 15 March 2026 - 26 July 2026

The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation is proud to be included in Andy Moses’ solo exhibition, Into the Light, curated by Peter Frank at the Laguna Art Museum. The exhibition is on view March 21 - September 20, 2026.
This exhibition surveys Andy Moses’ work of the last two decades, evincing his increasingly expansive commitment to a kind of painting that at once displays and obscures imagery. This work forces you to decide what it is doing to you, what it is showing you, if and how it is tricking your eyes, or playing to their strengths.
We’re excited to have four works featured in the exhibition:
Geodesy 1008, 2024
Permian Basin, 2010
Vortex 101, 2011
Beyond the Cirrostratus, 2003
