GUNPOWDER is the first real alternative to Big Coffee and energy drink brands. We brew our own line of fresh bottled drinks that give your mind and body what they crave: balanced energy and antioxidants. Although you can now find our GUNPOWDER Super-Drinks at multiple retail stores and restaurants across the LA area, you'll need to come to our Venice location to get the original Gunshot Latte (hot
or iced), our most popular made-to-order drink. They're all based on Guayusa, the Super-Herb from the Amazon Rainforest. All you need to do is have one drink and experience the feeling. You won't go back to coffee. Try our new Guayuccino, a rich & thick (but surprisingly low in calories) blended version of the Gunshot Latte. We've got some pretty amazing baked goods, including LA's Best Blueberry Muffin, Orange Polenta Bread, and Banana Bread, baked fresh in-house all day long. (And they happen to be gluten free.)

We opened GUNPOWDER in March, 2014. At first, we called ourselves a "Tea Lab" and we carried a wide range of tea-based and herbal beverages. Guayusa was one of many herbs/teas that we sold. [Guayusa is actually an herb, not a tea.]
What we discovered is that people liked the teas, but they LOVED the Guayusa. So we decided, in April, to dedicate our entire business to this awesome herb from Ecuador. We are still driven by the same desire we had at the beginning: to create a better cafe experience--and a better product--than you can get from Big Coffee. (It's no accident we're directly across the street from them.) The conventional wisdom is to give you uncomfortable wooden chairs at wobbly tables, to get you in and out faster. But we have the opposite point of view: we will give you the best of everything--including chairs and tables, as well as our products. We are on a street with 11 coffee shops, and we are determined to give you a better experience and a better product. We brew our bottled drinks daily in small batches, using only organic ingredients. Our guayusa is fair-trade certified, kosher and certified organic. We source our other ingredients from local farmers markets. You won't find any preservatives or artificial anything in any GUNPOWDER product.
