Learning Rights TIGER Program

ensure equal education access for under served families in Los Angeles County, with an emphasis of children with special education needs. TIGERs cornerstone project is its unique and intensive special education advocacy training for underserved families. These trainings are once a month for 11 months and taught by education professionals, advocates and attorneys. The highly specialized curriculum covers all aspects of special education advocacy, based on parents current needs and challenges. Each parent receives Learning Rights Law Centers Special Education Toolkit a long with training, support and resources necessary to advocate for their children in a non-adversarial and collaborative manner. The 2013 trainings currently reach over 100 families a month in Los Angeles County. While the 2013 classes are closed for new applications, please contact us to stay up to date for the 2014 series. TIGER also supports 4 parent-to-parent community groups designed specifically for parents who face special education advocacy challenges. These groups meets once per month in Downey, Highland Park, West Los Angeles and Whittier. At these meetings, you will find a safe space for families to gather resources and support from other parents in your community.
