An icon of American women on the production lines in munitions factories, Rosie the Riveter was everywhere-on posters, in newsreels-rolling up her sleeves. Her home-front heroism opened up a
job and career opportunities for American women during and after the war. A Rosie the Riveter memorial in Richmond, California, honors the women who worked in the Northern California shipyards.

Tony the Tiger, created in 1957 for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes,
originally shared package panels with Katy the Kangaroo, but Tony
became more popular and Katy was retired in 1953. Tony is the most recognized animal icon in advertising history.
