More than 45 years after “The Evil Dead“ changed horror forever, the franchise is still alive and well. This time, the torch has been passed to French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček, whose “Infested“ caught Sam Raimi's eye and led him to direct “Evil Dead Burn.“

Ahead of the film's release tomorrow, July 10, Vaniček tells us about how he stepped into one of horror's most beloved franchises, balancing relentless brutality with humor, the series' famously chaotic lore, and his battle with the MPAA over the film's violence.

“When you start to work in this universe, you are like, ‘Okay, so what are the rules?’ It's like, there are no rules,” Vaniček says with a laugh.

BLXST returns with “Labor of Love,” his first fully self-produced album and one rooted in family, vulnerability and growth.

The LA artist reflects on reconnecting with his purpose through fatherhood, honoring the home his grandfather built, carrying the torch for the West Coast, and why slowing down helped shape the most personal project of his career.

“I just feel real proud of this body of work, knowing that it comes from an authentic place,” he says. “I think it’s going to stand the test of time. It was real stories, real vulnerable moments, and I feel people connect to that.”
