Hello everyone! Thank you for your interest in PACK. As a prior Coast Guard member, I have made it my mission to serve my community as well as my heroes. I am an active member of the American Legion Palisades Post 283, attend USC as a student, and serve as a leader for Team Red White & Blue, where we are “enriching veterans’ lives through physical and socia
l activity”. I began my training career with southern California’s 4 Paws 4 Patriots, providing Service Dogs to Veterans. I am grateful to 4 Paws for sharing their knowledge and providing me with the best gift I have ever received. I continue to work with 4 Paws and have begun PACK to expand these essential services and increase my mission to reach more members of the community. My Service Dog has helped to not only save my life, but to increase my well-being and happiness. I want to share my experience and hope to provide for my members the same gift that changed my life. PACK is now be offering Service Dog Training in and around Greater Los Angeles! PACK offers pro bono training to active and prior service members, to include: Police, Firefighters, EMT's, Veterans and other First-Responders. PACK assist’s other members of the community on a case-by-case basis. The current industry average wait time for a Service Dog is a distressing 3-5 years. PACK believes that waiting years for a life-saving dog is totally unacceptable and possesses a special "cooperative training" model that places dogs immediately! PACK can do this because we begin working with a client and their dog prior to a PACK Service Dog certification. This unique cooperative training format, where clients train and work their own companion dog, has been exceedingly successful. Cooperative learning is a strategy in which teams of student handlers of different ability levels use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of dog ownership, communication and handling- thus creating an atmosphere of high achievement. Because handlers are those with mild-severe disabilities, my clients will find themselves with improved self-esteem, social skills, and improved relations. There are several certifications a dog team, client, and their dog, must achieve before a dog will be certified as a PACK Service Dog (e.g. Basic Obedience, AKC Canine Good Citizen, PACK Public Access, and Taskwork specific to individual disabilities). There is no time minimum or maximum for the duration it will take for a team to be PACK certified. At the end of the program and certification process, the team will be able to competently communicate and have a lasting mutually beneficial relationship. My PACK becomes a true family! This may not be as apparent with dogs that have been trained as a medical device by other programs. PACK's Future & Promise:
P.A.C.K is motivated to be selected by ADI, Assistance Dogs International, to be granted an "Accredited Organization” status. P.A.C.K will seek to always strive to provide excellence in every aspect of its business and conduct. This means that P.A.C.K will aspire to become a member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI), a coalition of not for profit assistance dog organizations who must pass ADI’s comprehensive accreditation and are regularly assessed to ensure they meet the high standards expected.
